Hot Diet Tips

Here are the Dietsoday top tips for anyone serious about dieting
or embarking upon a healthier you.  Take it one tip at a
time, don’t try to change over night. A healthier you
will evolve and will be around to stay.

1) Hydrate

Go drink a glass of water right now and try to work up to incorporating
8 glasses a day into your life. Replace the odd coffee with a water or a herbal tea.
There are loads on supermarket shelves. Try green tea with pear and apple, our favourite at the moment.

2) Pen it!

How many times have you heard someone say ‘write it down’.
Whatever you munch or drink, notate it in a diary or journal.
It really does help you focus upon what you eat and understand where
you are going wrong. If you start writing things down and notice that you
aren’t losing those excess pounds or you are not feeling as energetic as you
would like reflect on your diary entries. When you see the words
Mid morning snack – bar of chocolate, bag of crisps. Take control and focus!
Use the diary to see where and how you are going wrong.

3) Variety is the spice........

Buy that weird looking vegetable or fruit that you don’t even know the name of!
Non successful dieters often rely on the usual foods, and boredom and unfulfillment
is one of the main causes of over snacking. Try new and different things and you will find
another common ingredient or meal that you can add to your ‘usual’ list.

4) Fresh flavours

Save your money and don’t bother with high sugar, salt laden artificially composed meals.
How many times have you heard ‘prepare fresh food from scratch’?
A common misconception exists that packaged microwave dinners are quicker
to prepare than freshly prepared meals. I assure you I can slice and fry
peppers and chicken breast, and grill tortillas to make tasty filling fajitas much
quicker than preparing a pre-packed lasagne, oven chips and beans dinner.

5) XXL

Portion size should be higher up this list, it’s crucial. And can be the downfall of many a dieter.
Often we find ourselves eating better and healthier and can’t understand why we are failing to lose weight.
It is simply because of the amounts we are putting on our plates. Avert those big eyes and try cooking a little less, you may find it’s enough and there is less food wasted and less bloating as ‘waste not want not’ need not apply!

6) Walk of life

If you can’t get to a gym for whatever reason use the opportunity to walk whenever you can and strap on a pedometer. They are inexpensive and seeing those steps build up will encourage you to carry on.

7) Food focus

Watch what you eat, quite literally, take notice of the food you eat and give it your attention.
You may find this more satisfying and hopefully not feel as though you need to snack or eat more.

8) Home spa treatments.

A visit to the Spa is wonderful but can be quite pricey! Try some home treats especially dry skin brushing
It helps combat the appearance of cellulite, removes dead skin cells, cleanses the lymphatic system,
stimulates blood circulation and can aid digestion.

9) Sweet patience.

A craving for sweets or puddings after a meal can be a great dieting hindrance. Sounds bizarre
but have a little patience. Don’t delve straight in after your meal. Let your food settle a bit and
you may find you are actually full and do not require a pudding, or at least not the double helping you were planning.

A lot of people go for main courses and a pudding. I am tending towards a starter and a main when I'm out for food. I'm lucky though wihout a huge sweet tooth. The patience point made here is true though and if you opt for a tasty little starter you may avoid a big nasty sweet :)

Number 4 is a good point I think. There is alot to be said for naturally tasty or spicy foods. They say spicy food aids the metabolic rate and is good for immunity... I think?

Patience..... the final words here are probably my biggest downfall. I had a bread n butter pudding not long ago and I really didnt ought to have.
